This week Dr. Kahn discusses if it is really true that to "build muscle you need to eat muscle". He quotes the literature that indicates that plant-based protein is healthier and supports healthy muscle growth if you do the hard work of gym time. He highlights vegan bodybuilders Nimai Delgado and Robert Cheeke. Robert Cheeke gained over 100 lbs. of muscle by spending time in the gym eating a clean plant diet without any supplements with only 10-15% of his 3,000 daily calories from protein sources like beans. Dr. Kahn disagrees strongly that to "build muscle you need to eat muscle". Maybe tofu, but not muscle.
